CDC Demands 132 Passengers That Flew With 2nd Ebola Patient Report For Testing.
The CDC has announced that the second healthcare worker diagnosed with Ebola — now identified as Amber Joy Vinson of Dallas — traveled by air Oct. 13, the day before she first reported symptoms.
The CDC is now reaching out to all passengers who flew on Frontier Airlines flight 1143 Cleveland to Dallas/Fort Worth. The flight landed at 8:16 p.m. CT.
The CDC is asking all 132 passengers on the flight to call 1 800-CDC INFO (1 800 232-4636). Public health professionals will begin interviewing passengers about the flight after 1 p.m. ET.
Vinson first reported a fever on Tuesday (Oct. 14) and was isolated within 90 minutes, according to officials. She did not exhibit symptoms while on the Monday flight, according to crew members.
“Risk to that individual would have been extremely low,” says Dr. Tom Frieden, Director of the CDC.
However, the passenger notification is needed due to the proximity in time between the flight and the first reported symptoms.
“Those who have exposures to Ebola, she should not have traveled on a commercial airline,” said Dr. Frieden. “The CDC guidance in this setting outlines the need for controlled movement. That can include a charter plane; that can include a car; but it does not include public transport. We will from this moment forward ensure that no other individual who is being monitored for exposure undergoes travel in any way other than controlled movement.”
Frieden specifically noted that the remaining 75 healthcare workers who treated Thomas Duncan at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital will not be allowed to fly. The CDC will work with local and state officials to accomplish this.
Frontier Airlines is working closely with the CDC to identify and notify all passengers on the flight. The airline also says the plane has been thoroughly cleaned and was removed from service following CDC notification early Wednesday morning.
However, according to Flighttracker, the plane was used for five additional flights on Tuesday before it was removed from service. Those flights include a return flight to Cleveland, Cleveland to Fort Lauderdale–Hollywood International Airport (FLL), FLL to Cleveland, Cleveland to Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL), and ATL to Cleveland.
The nurse, however, identified as 29-year-old Amber Jay Vinson, took a flight from Cleveland to Dallas/Fort Worth on Monday, the day before she reported symptoms.
Frontier Airlines said in a statement it was notified by CDC at 1 a.m. Wednesday that a customer on a flight Monday later tested positive for Ebola.
Flight 1143 landed at 8:16 p.m. local time in Dallas-Fort Worth and “remained overnight at the airport having completed its flying for the day at which point the aircraft received a thorough cleaning per our normal procedures which is consistent with CDC guidelines prior to returning to service the next day.”
The airline said the plane also was also cleaned again in Cleveland Tuesday night. Previously the customer had traveled from Dallas Fort Worth to Cleveland on Frontier flight 1142 on Friday.
The CDC said in a statement that because of the proximity in time between the evening flight and first report of illness the following morning, it is asking all 132 passengers on Frontier Airlines flight 1143 Oct. 13 to call 1 800-CDC INFO (1 800 232-4636).
Public health professionals will begin Wednesday afternoon interviewing the passengers about the flight, answering their questions and arranging follow up.
Śo now they are watching well over a hundred people that may have came in contact. Soon as they find one or two.. Will have to search and watch 200.. Then 300. So on and so on.. Then the Muslim terrorist in the White House can sit back and watch what he’s created.
It makes my blood boil too. But it’s true. Everytime time they discover Someone test positive, it’s a big search.. Keeping in mind the virus lays undetected for several days.. That 1st guy died atleast a week ago.. Now this amber woman has it.. Theres NO telling how many people she came in contact with.. And even boarded a plane? Jeeez. You can’t tell me this is NOT planned by our Muslim terrorist.. And for that CDC guy to actually say that shutting down flights from an Ebola hot zone will do more harm than good.. Is ridiculous.. How stupid do they think we are? Stop insulting the American people.
Ignorance, incompetence, or malice; either way a lot of Americans are getting set up to die. We’ve dealt with highly contagious diseases for a long time, and I have never seen anything like this. People better wake up and quit relying on these fools for your well being. This is all politics now, NO ONE is looking out for US. Protect yourselves, limit exposure, stock up on necessities in case we have to hunker down for a while.
Doctors and nurses will soon be deserting their posts. If a patient shows up with a flu symptom is the doctor or nurse going to see them? I doubt it, why should they risk their own lives. You may actually see whole emergency room workers quit. If I was one, I would consider it. Is your job worth dying over (a horrible death)? We can thank Mr. Obama and his, behind the scenes, NWO handlers for this American outbreak. Flights from those infected countries should have been stopped as soon as Ebola started. Of course, Obama does not give a damn about Americans. If he did he would not be sending our troops over to that hot spot to get Ebola. I am surprised that the Military has not refused to obey his “commands”. Commander in Chief, what a joke!!! He hates to even salute. He considers it beneath his station in life. America is being destroyed by our Federal Government! Wake up people! If anyone else dies from this horrible decease, I hope it is not a patriotic conservative American.
Oh, and did you hear that CDC director say that they were only spraying the rubber gloves (per their instructions)! Duhhhhh! You cover yourself from head to toe and then you only spray the rubber gloves down before you undress! That protocol is a receipt for disaster! It is no wonder that the woman caught Ebola!! Then the CDC has the gall to say that it was the nurses fault!!!!!!!!!!!!!
